Threatened Plants Programmes

In March 2001, Threatened Plants Programmes (TPPs) in each of the participating gardens were approved as a key output of the botanical garden initiative of the SABONET Project.

Proposals were evaluated according to the following main criteria:

 A threatened species from a Plant Red Data List must be targeted.
 The selected species must have horticultural potential.
 Cultivation techniques must be developed for the selected species.
 A viable ex situ population must be established in the garden.

SABONET supported the following TPPs:
