With undoubtedly the largest flora in the SABONET region, South Africa had an enormous task when it was asked to prepare a checklist of South African plants for publication in the SABONET Report Series. At approximately 1,200 pages, this publication will be the thickest and heaviest of the SABONET reports, and will be the second in the series to be published in hard cover. In addition to listing all the indigenous and naturalised (including invasive) plants known to occur in South Africa, it will also be the first attempt to list all the plants known or suspected to be endemic to the country.
