This first number in the SABONET Report Series documents background information of the herbaria participating in the SABONET project. The book provides details of the status of these herbaria at the start of the project, and of the activities and programmes that these institutions were involved in at that time. Most importantly for SABONET, it lists the needs in terms of infrastructure and human resources of these herbaria at the start of the Project-needs that the SABONET Project has aimed to address in the subsequent years.
