SAAB Congress 2004

The SABONET Regional Office attended and participated in the 30th Annual Congress of the South African Association of Botanists (SAAB) and the 4th Conference, Exhibition, and Workshop of the Botanical Artists’ Association of Southern Africa (BAASA) held in January 2004.

The following posters were presentedd uring the poster session on systematics and biodiversity
 Tammy Smith presented Herbaria and the end-users of botanical information in southern Africa
 Yolande Steenkamp presented Floristic endemism in southern Africa: a numerical classification at generic level
 Elsabé Malan presented An analysis of the human and financial resources used to produced the Southern African Plant Red Data Lists

During the closing function, it was announced that a poster on the flagship species of the Natal National Botanical Garden’s SABONET Threatened Plants Programme—the Hilton Daisy, Gerbera aurantiaca—presented by Isabel Johnson of the Natal NBG had received an award.
